4 months that felt more like only 4 weeks!

Charlotte is four months old.
In some ways it seems like we just brought her
home last week and in other ways it's hard
to remember life before her.
We are all still so in love!

Her neck is getting stronger every day, which is very encouraging!  We do physical therapy exercises and as much tummy time as she'll tolerate.  She can now sit up in a Bumbo seat without being too floppy, even though anything longer than 5 minutes really seems to tucker her out.  She's 15 pounds - which doesn't feel like too much unless she's in her carseat carrier.  Add the 15 pounds from that and lugging it around with her in it is becoming a great workout for me!

One day she wanted to keep me in her sight so I lay her on
a nearby rug while I emptied the dishwasher.
This rug is usually Ruby's "spot".  When Ruby saw
someone else was trying to stake claim, she trotted
her four legs right over and claimed it back,
baby or no baby in the way!

She's still a great sleeper.  And by great I mean GRRRRREEEEAAAT!  She's a rockstar.  She's been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks.  She goes to bed around 9 p.m. and wakes up around 5:00 or 6:00.  Of course she's starving by then and I could pretty much ring out her diaper, but she's still so happy and cheerful.  She's the most patient baby on the planet.  If she's screaming for her food, it's only because I've made her wait an extra long time.  She naps twice during the day for about 1-2 hours each, once in the morning and again around 4:00 p.m.  Other than that she's pretty much awake except for the occasional 10-minute catnap.

Ruby loves hanging out next to Charlotte whenever she's on her playmat.  I don't let the dog lay on it, but Ruby settles for laying on the floor next to her.  I think she likes it because a)Ruby knows "where Charlotte is, that's where mommy is" and b) Ruby seems to enjoy listening the noises Charli's toys make as she swipes at them.

Happy birthday to me!  Thanks to two very generous mothers, I have the cutest purse/diaper bag EVER!  It's got room for everything I need + room to spare and yet it's not huge and obnoxious.  I also love the print.  It's feminine and doesn't scream "BABY BAG".  It's vinyl-coated so it's easy to clean and comes with three different types of straps I can attach.  Thanks, Moms!

Naturally, Charli is a Yankee fan.
She cheers extra loud for
Granderson, Cano, Swisher, and Teixera!
She still eats every three hours.  You could set your watch by this girl!  She's now up to 5 oz.  I'm not going to introduce solid foods to her until her neck and upper body strength are better.  Plus, I still need to get a high chair!
Love this girl
too much to express!

Big Brothers are great - and that ain't no story!

She can't fully appreciate it now, but someday I hope Charlotte realizes how fortunate she is to have siblings that love her so much.  They love to sing to her, play with her, hold her, and best of all read stories to her.  Here's Wyatt reading a library book to his baby sister (in the cuuuuuuuutest voice)!

maybe we should try the lottery?

This month Brett entered his business card into
two separate drawings at business lunches.
Both times his card was selected.
Both times he won an iPad!
Sounds like he's on a lucky streak...
Hey, Baby, let's go to Vegas!

"Chalk" it up to a fabulous afternoon!

Last week we took the kids to Main Street in Bountiful for the annual Sidewalk Chalk festival.  It was gorgeous weather, the art was impressive, and our picnic lunch was yummy.  We all had a very good time!  It makes me grateful to live in an area that does fun things like this.  We are blessed to have a beautiful, strong, family-oriented community to live in!

Our Potter Party was Magical!

On Sunday night a strange visitor came to our home.  It was Hedwig, Harry Potter's pet owl.  He looked a little bloated from his journey - suspiciously as bloated as a balloon, but we let him in anyway.  It was a good thing because his personality was very bouncy and airy!  He floated right over to Wyatt, who untied the note Hedwig had carried all the way from Hogwarts.
The note told Wyatt how proud his parents are that he had taken on reading such a grand book as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, that he stuck with it and finished it like a real reading champ!  To celebrate this act of wizardry and accomplishment, Wyatt was invited to a Potter Party!
As we are mere Muggles, we first had to hop aboard
the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 3/4.
Here are the kids "passing through" the brick wall from the Muggle (non-wizard) world to the platform:

On the other side, they found Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry's dining hall.
Hedwig was our centerpiece (thanks, Deb, for the owl-loaner!)
along with the treats we would eat during the movie.
They were all a big hit!
Acid Pops (suckers dipped in Pop Rocks)
Cockroach Clusters (chocolate covered almonds)
Licorice Wands (black licorice whips
dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles)
Muggle Chocolate-dipped Pretzels
Cauldron Cakes (Hostess Cakes with Licorice Handles)
The Dinner Menu:
Hogwart's Castle's famous Meat Pies (beef empanadas) - received luke-warmly
Hagrid's Favorite Jelly Slugs - a favorite
Dumbledore Soft Rolls - who doesn't love rolls?
McGonagall Pasta Salad - passed by all the kids
Snape's favorite Butter Beer - like a root beer float but with sprite
and instead of just vanilla ice cream you drizzle
some butterscotch syrup in there.  Delish!
Lockhart's Favorite Pumpkin Pasties (pumpkin empanadas) - super yummy, super easy!

Before we sat down to eat, the sorting hat told us
which side of the table to sit on: Gryffindor or Slytherin

Everyone had potter glasses, so of course
we had to snap some pictures of each of us
wearing our Harry-spectacles.
Even Charli!

After our Potter Feast, we headed outside for House Games
 Quidditch Broom Races

 Pin the Wand on Harry

Harry Potter Character Memory Game

In the end, Gryffindor was defeated by
Slytherin in 2 out of the 3 House Games.
***
We watched the movie then the kids had
one final treat of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Jelly Beans.
Barf, Booger, and Dog Food were favorites.
No one had the guts to try Skunk Spray.
